At Feeders Grain & Farm Supply Inc., we don’t bring in equipment just to fill yard space—we bring in products we trust on our own farms. That’s why I recently visited Werk Weld to talk with Kevin about their history, their manufacturing process, and what truly sets their products apart.
If you’ve ever handled a Werk Weld bunk, feeder, or shelter, you already know—these are built different.
From a Small Repair Shop to a National Manufacturer
Werk Weld’s story starts in 1982 as a small repair business originally known as Workmeister Welding, founded by Kevin’s dad. Operating out of a 40’ × 40’ building, the business focused on repairs for local farmers—fixing what mattered and doing it right.
In 1995, the company expanded into manufacturing, growing both the facility and product line. By 1997, Kevin returned home to help expand the business further.
Today, Werk Weld operates out of a 40,000-square-foot facility, supplying more than 150 dealers, three major distributors, and customers across the United States, with some reach into Canada.
Sourcing Steel the Right Way
Werk Weld primarily sources U.S.-based steel, working with several domestic suppliers. As the company has grown, so has its purchasing power—moving from small local buys to full truckload and multi-truckload orders.
That consistency in raw materials shows up in the durability and uniformity of the finished equipment.
A Product Line Built to Grow With Producers
While Werk Weld started with creep feeders, expansion was intentional—adding products that complement one another and meet real farm needs.
Feeders & Storage
- Creep feeders
- Handy Hoppers (originally designed for corn stoves, now widely used for specialty feeds, show livestock, and deer feed)
Feed Bunks
- 4’ poly bunks for small livestock or water use
- Fence-line bunks
- Custom-length bunks built to exact specifications
- Heavy-duty silage bunks up to 20’ long and 45” wide
One standout feature is their willingness to customize. From leg height adjustments to one-off dimensions, Werk Weld builds equipment that actually fits the operation—not the other way around.
Bottomless Silage Bunks: Designed for Efficiency
Werk Weld’s bottomless silage bunks are designed for both capacity and clean-out:
- Bottomless for easy maintenance
- 48” wide and 28” deep
- Tapered sides to reduce feed waste
- Rounded corners for added strength and longevity
The tapered design also helps prevent feed from collecting in hard-to-clean corners.
Hay Feeders Built for Real-World Use
Werk Weld manufactures both round and square hay feeders:
- Available on skids or wheels
- Sizes from 8’ to 30’
- Designed for durability, mobility, and long service life
These are feeders built to be moved, used hard, and still hold up year after year.
Livestock Shelters That Stay Put
One of the most impressive products Werk Weld builds is their livestock shelters.
Shelter Features:
- Sizes: 12’ and 24’
- Main frame: 2⅞” drill stem
- Tubing: 12-gauge
- Galvanized exterior sheeting
- Fully framed internal structure
The tapered shape helps prevent wind from grabbing the shelter, a common issue with lighter designs. These shelters are widely used for calves, cattle, and even hogs—and they’re built to stay put.
Standing Behind Every Product
Werk Weld lives by a simple principle:
If you’re going to do something, do it right—and stand behind it.
They don’t shy away from customer issues. Whether it means visiting farms in person or addressing concerns head-on, they take responsibility seriously. That commitment makes it easy for us at Feeders Grain to stand behind their equipment.
Why Feeders Grain Carries Werk Weld
We don’t want customers replacing equipment—we want them expanding operations.
Werk Weld products:
- Use heavier-gauge steel
- Hold value over time
- Often resells well due to steel pricing
- Are built for longevity, not shortcuts
That aligns perfectly with how we do business.
